Sins Comeback if U Sin Again Bible

WaterfallA Waterfall Of Grace

Imagine that it'due south 120 degrees outside. Hot.

Just and then imagine that y'all are continuing under a waterfall — cool, clear, and refreshing. Aaaah.

Through trusting Jesus Christ yous are standing under a waterfall of grace —

  • All your sins are forgiven — past, present, and future.
  • You lot are seen by God equally clothed in Jesus' perfect righteousness.
  • God is your Father — loving y'all, guiding y'all, providing for you, satisfying you lot in Himself.
  • God continues to forgive your sins 24-hour interval after solar day, year later year — forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven.
  • God will keep you persevering in faith so you will surely enter heaven.
  • God will supply everything y'all demand for the rest of your life.
  • God will ordain everything in your futurity to bring yous the greatest joy in Him.

A waterfall of grace.

But This Raises A Question

Does grace hateful someone tin can deliberately keep sinning and still cease up in heaven?

I passage that speaks directly to this question is Hebrews x:26-31.

Poesy 26 is sobering —

For if we go along sinning deliberately after receiving the noesis of the truth, there no longer remains a cede for sins.

What Does That Mean?

What does it hateful to proceed sinning deliberately?

"Sinning" means disobeying clear commands of Scripture — which would include unforgiveness, sexual immorality, and love of coin.

So — if yesterday you harbored unforgiveness against someone, does that mean you can never exist forgiven?  Non at all.

Find that the author is not only talking about "sinning."  He's talking about "going on sinning deliberately."

The words "going on" and "deliberately" mean that y'all are continuing in this sin without confessing it, without sorrowing over it, without contesting it.

So if yesterday you harbored unforgiveness against someone, but today confessed that to the Lord and by faith fought to overcome information technology — so you are NOT "going on sinning deliberately."

But — if yesterday you harbored unforgiveness against someone, and today you are continuing in that unforgiveness without confessing information technology and without fighting by faith to forgive them — then you ARE "going on sinning deliberately."

Which means that unless something changes, there no longer remains a sacrifice for your sins.

What Does That Mean?

The writer explains in the remainder of the passage.  If, after receiving the knowledge of the truth, you go on sinning deliberately, then —

  • Five.27 says you would face "a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire."
  • V.29 says you would face a "worse penalization" than death.
  • V.30 says y'all would face up God's "vengeance," and that He would "judge" you lot.
  • And v.31 says "it is a fearful matter to fall into the hands of the living God."

I don't see any way around it.  If, after receiving the noesis of the truth, you lot get on sinning deliberately, and then you will not end upwards in heaven.  Yous will face God'south judgment forever.

But Be Careful

At this indicate you lot could depict a very wrong, and very dangerous, determination.

Let's say you are NOT going on sinning deliberately.  Non that you are perfect, simply you are trusting Christ, which includes fighting sin by organized religion.  You oftentimes overcome sin.  And when you do sin, you turn dorsum to Christ, confess your sin, and return to the fight.

So you are Non going on sinning deliberately.  But you could let this passage make you fear that anytime y'all might start going on sinning deliberately, which would mean facing God's judgment forever.

Merely I've got adept news for you.  If today y'all are trusting Christ — so You lot WILL NEVER Face THIS JUDGMENT.

Considering if today yous are trusting Christ, which includes fighting sin by faith, that shows that God has saved you. And because God has saved you lot, He will —

  • complete the good work He started in you lot (Phil 1:6),
  • go on you from stumbling so far that you face eternal judgment (Jude 1:24-25),
  • not allow annihilation (not even you) snatch yous from His hand (John 10:28-29).

So no i who is saved by God will experience the judgment described in Heb 10:26-31.

But yous might wonder — hadn't the people described in Heb 10:26-31 been saved?

Hadn't they "received the knowledge of the truth" (Heb 10:26)?  Yes, simply that does not mean they were saved.  Because the parable of the iv soils shows that in that location is a shallow mode to receive the word that does not include faith in Christ (Mark 4:one-20).

And hadn't they been "sanctified" (Heb 20:29)?  Yeah, but that as well does not mean they were saved.  Considering the word "sanctified" tin can mean something less than salvation (see 1Cor vii:xiv-16).

And so how can anyone know for sure they have been saved?  We are saved by faith lone in Christ alone (Eph 2:viii-9).  So, to be assured of salvation, turn from any else y'all have been trusting to satisfy you, and trust Jesus Christ to forgive you, strengthen your weak faith, help yous battle sin, and satisfy y'all in Himself.

If your trust is sincere, and then you will want to fight sin by religion, and you can be fully assured that God has saved you.  Which ways He volition keep you persevering in religion to the stop.  Which ways you will never confront the judgment described in Heb x:26-31. Never.

Simply What If You Are Non?

What if you are not fighting sin by faith?  What if you are going on sinning deliberately?

Lord willing, I'll talk about this more in my adjacent web log post.

But for at present, empathise that if you are going on sinning deliberately, and so unless something changes, you will face God's judgment forever.

Only — if y'all will turn to Jesus at present and confess your sin, acknowledge your helplessness, ask His forgiveness, and trust Him to forgive you lot, strengthen you lot, help and satisfy yous — He will.

And you'll exist nether the waterfall of His grace — and kept in that location — forever.
